Answers to the questions we're asked most — about prescriptions, lenses, frames and our after-sales service. If something isn't covered here, the contact options at the bottom go straight to us.

Making a Purchase

Do you ship worldwide? What does delivery cost?

Yes — we ship worldwide from Singapore. Delivery within Singapore is free for every order (SmartPac, or self-collection at the shop). International shipping is a flat rate by region: Asia-Pacific $20 SGD, most of the world $50 SGD, Africa & Middle East $60 SGD — all sent by Express (3–7 working days).

Full details on the Shipping & Delivery page.

Is a prescription required for getting a pair of glasses?

Yes and no. If you're purchasing a frame with prescription lenses, a prescription is required. If you're purchasing just the frame with neutral lenses, it isn't.

No prescription on hand? Our shop can do an eye test for you and make your prescription glasses from the results.

Do you provide eye tests for children?

Yes. Our optometrist performs eye tests for children, including children under 8 years old.

What payment modes do you accept?

Retail shop: Cash, VISA, Mastercard, AMEX, NETS and Alipay.

Online: VISA, Mastercard, AMEX and PayPal.

Can you send products by post?

Yes. We can send products to you via a delivery service such as SingPost. Feel free to ask our shop staff for details.

Can you make lenses with the same degree as my existing glasses?

Absolutely. Visit our shop with your existing pair of glasses and we'll check the degree and make a new set of lenses to match. We also accept other records of your degree, such as a doctor's prescription.

There may be circumstances where we're unable to check the degree due to scratches or damaged coating on the lenses.

Product Information

Do you offer thinner lenses?

Yes. Our lenses range from thin and light 1.56 Index Aspheric Lenses to Ultra High Index 1.74 Aspheric Lenses.

Is there an additional fee for astigmatism correction?

It depends. Generally there is no additional fee regardless of astigmatism or degree for standard lenses. Prestigious lens labels may charge extra for astigmatism correction, or if your correction is unusually high.

Can you make reading glasses?

Yes.

Do you offer lenses with UV protection?

Yes. All lenses at Sin Chew Optics come with UV protection, which can reduce over 99% of UV rays reaching the eyes.

Can you make prescription glasses with progressive lenses?

Yes.

Can you make prescription glasses with polarized lenses?

Yes. Allow a processing time of up to 14 working days, as polarized lenses are manufactured and edged in France.

Polarized lenses cannot be used for half-rim or rimless frames.

Can you make prescription glasses with mirrored lenses?

Yes. Allow a processing time of up to 14 working days, as mirrored lenses are manufactured and edged in France.

Mirrored lenses cannot be used for half-rim or rimless frames.

Can you make prescription glasses with transition lenses?

Yes. Allow a processing time of up to 7 working days.

Can you make a frame with lenses that have no degree?

Yes. Neutral power or plano (+0.00) lenses will be used — these also come with UV protection. You may also choose PC (Blue Shield) computer lenses with neutral power.

Do you have frames for children?

Yes, we do.

Can you change the lenses of glasses purchased elsewhere?

Yes — and we don't charge extra for using your own frame. We do advise this is done at your own risk, and you'll be asked to sign a short disclaimer confirming you understand.

If the frame shows obvious signs of extreme wear, deterioration or cracks, we'll advise against a reglaze, and in some cases won't accept the frame. In the vast majority of cases, we're happy to change the lenses for you.

Can I reserve a limited edition or collaboration product?

You're most welcome to — we accept reservations for limited edition and collaboration products. As such items usually come in limited quantities, we apologise in advance if we're unable to accept your reservation.

Lens Information

The prescription on my new lenses isn't suitable for me. Can I exchange them?

Yes, you can. Nobody wants discomfort or blurred vision — so within the first 60 days, if you experience discomfort or feel the degree isn't suitable for you, let us know and we'll gladly change the lenses for you.

My lens has become scratched. Does the warranty cover this?

Unfortunately, no. Lens manufacturers' warranties do not cover scratched lenses.

I'm bothered by the lens thickness. Can you make them thinner?

Yes, it's possible. Contact us or speak to us at the shop and we'll offer the most suitable lenses based on your degree. Note that occasionally we can't meet a required thickness due to your degree and the size or shape of the frames.

My new lenses have the same degree as my old glasses, but my vision seems different. Why?

The change in your vision could be due to the shape and fitting of the frames. If you're not comfortable with your vision, visit our shop within the warranty period — we'll confirm your degree and adjust the frames and fitting accordingly.

After Sales Service

What after sales service do you provide?

We provide lifetime after-sales service at no charge — including change of nose pads, adjustment and tightening of screws, adjustment of fitting, and eye tests.

Is it possible to return an item?

Yes, we accept returns provided the item remains in pristine condition. Please read our Returns & Exchanges Policy.

There's a scratch on my lens. Can you do something about it?

We're unable to repair or remove scratches on lenses. However, we may be able to change the lenses, depending on the condition of the frames.

Can you adjust the fitting of frames purchased elsewhere?

We're happy to adjust the fitting of your frames for free.

This service may not be available for some frames due to constraints in the frame condition.

Can you change my contact lens power after purchase?

Yes. If you accidentally purchased the wrong power — or your eye power changes a few months down the road — we're happy to change the power of your contact lenses at no charge.

This service is only available for contact lenses purchased from us.
